It is a privilege to serve as your 2008 President of the Sonoma County Alliance and an honor to have been selected for this role by the Board of Directors and General Membership.
I have been a member of the Alliance for approximately 20 years; however, I didn’t become involved on the board level until about 8 years ago. I find the Alliance to be a stimulating organization in which I’ve had the opportunity to educate myself on various issues affecting our County through our membership programs.
The Alliance represents a diverse membership within our community that ranges from individuals, healthcare, fire, police, non-profits, business, agriculture, banking, real estate, manufacturing – the list goes on. Overall we have in excess of 350 members representing over 50,000 employees in Sonoma County.
The Alliance continues to gain momentum within our membership by focusing on the issues that face our community and by responding to those issues through education to our membership. I continually receive comments from our members thanking the Board for the programs we put in front of them because they are always timely and relevant.
Our organization actively engages in the political process and is respected by many elected officials for our involvement and concern in sticking with our motto: “A healthy environment depends upon a healthy economy”. Our subcommittees maintain ongoing dialogue with our policy makers to ensure our voices are being heard and to assist in keeping our membership informed on issues such as transportation, environment, healthcare and sustainability.
I want to personally thank our members for their involvement and participation with the Sonoma County Alliance and for taking such a vested interest in our community. Sonoma County is a beautiful place to live, work and play, and we have many of our members to thank for that.
Kimberly Waite
2008 President
